Airush revolutionizes the way kites are made with the all-new Aramid Load Frame technology. Aramid, found in bulletproof vests, is strategically placed throughout the kite to create a frame that improves the kites structure and response. This construction absorbs impact throughout the canopy, minimizes stretch and reduces the area between each stitch point, further increasing the strength of the kite. Not only does the frame create a solid structure but also increases performance. The Aramid Load Frame makes a more solid link throughout the entire kite, which enhances the response from rider to kite.
In its first year, the Aramid Load Frame is featured on the Razor Team and the Wave. Two ranges that see the most abuse and beating from our riders, Airush find it absolutely necessary to implement this construction in these kites to maximize the longevity.
Featured on all the 2013 Airush Kites, with the exception of the Razor, the V Bridle system adds not only to the safety benefits, but also contributes significantly to the feeling and performance of the kites. The positioning of the bridle attachment points on the LE of the kite combined with the V pulleys, give a very smooth and responsive depower this allows for steering that is light, but direct enough to feel where your kite is. This also enables the kite to be steered and controllable when the kite is completely depowered.
The Supported Leading Edge C-Kite, or SL-C, is dedicated to riders who want everything from 4-line unhooked performance to high depower. The SL-C concept gives a C shape arc, which delivers great turning and direct response in combination with Support Leading Edge range and relaunching characteristics. The SL-C gives the benefits of both worlds in one concept.
The Wave is really versatile for any type of surf riders style. Simple changes in your back lines will customize the Airush Wave to suit yourself. Play around with it but here are some of my personal favorites when I designed the Airush Wave.
If you like to unhook often and let your kite drift, tie a knot lower on your back pigtails (ie making your back lines slightly longer). This will reduce the back line tension causing the kite to be balanced when unhooked.
If you like to ride hooked in and turn your kite constantly when you ride waves, make a knot even above the standard one on the pigtail, to increase your steering speed. I personally recommend to avoid the bar all the way in when riding otherwise the kite will “choke”.
