Rolf van der Vlugt and Katja Roose win the KTE in France

This week the last tour stop of the European Kitesurf Tour was held in St Gilles Croix de Vie in France. Airush riders Rolf and Katja were there to race against the topriders of Europe. In the mens division the battle was on! Rolf had some tough races against the French guys Julien Kerneur and Maxime Nocher. In very light wind conditions Rolf turned out to be the most constant rider of the 3.

When Julien made some major mistakes by missing a buoy, Rolf was there to take the win. Winning this last tour stop didn’t change the overall ranking for Rolf. In the 2011 overall KTE ranking Rolf holds on to his third place. For Katja Roose, the 2011 season was a very successful one. At the World Championships in Sylt, she became second overall and then dominated the KTE Italy by winning every single race in the light wind conditions of Lamezia in Southern Italy. Here in France, she again left no doubt about who is the fastest European female racer by winning all races and clearly dominating the women fleet.

As a result, Katja is the well-deserved winner of the KTE France and of the overall Kitesurf Tour Europe 2011 in course racing women. In second place overall finished Christine Boenniger and Ines Correia (Airush) in third place.
